For reference, I'm looking at the point "Log Cp" and comparing 24K to CNNA, the trails are not the same. Maybe I'm getting confused with the amount of detail on the 24K West map. However comparing Randy's images below, I'm having a hard time seeing if the trails shown are the same. Am I wrong?Ī buddy of mine who is into adventure riding says the 24k West is the way to go. It only shows the main streets in my town, so I assume it's that level of detail for everything. Just looking at it from my home, there is very little detail. The contour lines and all the other detail on a topo make it harder to see your track at glance and if you have to look harder you're gonna crash. There is no way I know of to turn off the contour lines on a typo map.

You can run the screen full bright all the time which gives the best view.
With the powered cradle wired into the bikes 12v supply batteries are a thing of the past. Montana along with a "rugged powered" cradle is the best for motorcycling, dirt and street. City Navigator is the best map when riding with your GPS device. There are no turn directions only a line on the map and if you leave the line then get back to the line. This is basically connect the dots and follow the line. "Tracking" is what one does to navigate off road. The device then gives you turn by turn directions. Auto routing is was one does with their smart phone. For dirt riding this is no big deal as none of the maps will auto route effectively on trails.

I think you can still find a 24k map on line for free but it will not have auto routing capability. Ladd - what is it that you don't like about the 100K vs the 24k?
